Digributor is a combination of words "Digital" and "Distributor".
This briefly describes how Digribution works and how is it different from "Street Performer Protocol".
- Author puts a product on sale (anything that can be downloaded: Audio, Video, Text, Software, Know-how, Books, etc.) and gets back a link to the product bidding page. The link can be advertised by any means.
- Buyers place bids setting the amount of money they would pay individually and number of days the bid is valid. The promise to pay can be canceled any time before release.
- Author monitors the accumulating sum and when it is big enough releases the product. Every buyer is charged for the amount of money he/she stated and gets the product.
- Author gets all the money.
- Product is free to be copied, shared and distributed by anybody. This is NOT true.
The "5th postulate" could be arguable so I leave it to the authors. Authors can use any license with their products and/or any Digital Rights Management (DRM). This is what makes the service different from classic Street Performer Protocol (SPP). Those who do not pay will not be able to download the product on the site. But moving to free information is recommended and more welcomed.
